New Practices in the Lifestyles of Russians in 2013

In the conditions of the information society, changes in science and technology cause the appearance of new types of social practices that change the way of life. These processes attract the sociologists interest in particular in consumer behavior, new forms of employment, the participation of the population in educational activities, and the use of information and communication technologies. A number of questions arise concerning the possible types and factors of innovative behavior in the life style of Russians, as well as the subjective assessment of the innovation level by the population. In this regard, this study aimed to identify the prevalence of innovative practices in the life style of Russians and its determinants among Russian population in 2013. In the framework of the project, innovation indexes were constructed in various spheres of lifestyle, a typology of the population was constructed according to the degree of innovation in the lifestyle, and a portrait of each of the groups was given by defining socio-demographic characteristics and innovative practices. Based on the regression models evaluation, hypotheses were confirmed concerning that the main determinants of propensity to innovate behavior are high socioeconomic status, the presence of higher education, young age and living in big cities.
