The Role of Country-of-Origin Effect in Cinema Audience Perceptions of Russian National Films

The purpose of this work was to enrich the scientific knowledge in the phenomenon of country- of-origin (CCO) effect in the context of Russian cinema production. This issue deserves closer examination as there is a lack of CCO effect studies focuses intangible products, such as the arts or entertainment. The present project will attempt to describe the image of Russian national cinema in the perception of Moscow cinemagoers. The research was achieved by deployment of a qualitative sociological method, particularly with the use of focus group techniques. The exploratory results of this study can be used in further examination of the individuals’ Russian national cinema perceptions.
