Enabling of Big Data Implication in Industrial IoT

The research conducted in this master thesis is devoted to the sphere of Industrial Internet of Things with the goal to analyze the enabling of Big Data implication in the Industrial Internet of Things, considering theoretical researches and existing solutions suggested by IoT technologies’ providers. The concept of IIoT is defined, analyzing the approaches of different companies to describing and implementing this idea. The paper describes main IIoT architecture aspects, data sources and their relation to Big Data, as well as main challenges and approaches for implementing the IIoT concept, based on the requirements caused by Big Data characteristics. The main value of the conducted research is that it covers the concept of Industrial Internet of Things, defining those aspects that are currently being misunderstood and summarizing important issues in IIoT that are usually discovered separately and in more technical details, thus do not provide with a broad description of the concept. Consequently, the paper may appear useful to the interested in the industry digitalization with both technical and business backgrounds and companies that are willing to implement IIoT in their business with, as the research covered both engineering components and business issues.
