Educational Programme: History (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2017

This work is devoted to the emotional life of the Smolny Institute in the era of Nicholas I. The era of Nicholas I was named by M. Yu. Lotman an era of special sensitivity and emotionality. The peculiarity of this work is that the Smolny Institute was never considered from the point of view of emotional states. The main sources of work are memoirs and diaries of pupils. It is thanks to the author's subjectivity and emotional fullness that this type of sources contributes to the study of the "emotional matrices" of the institute. The main feelings that the girls owned in the walls of the institute are envy, pride, homesickness and, of course, a special syndrome of institutional sensitivity - an exalted "adoration".
