Peculiar Properties of the Media Discourse about the Participation of Russia in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro

The current research is devoted to the studying of the political media discourse about the participation of Russia in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The goal of the paper is to determine the main methods and tools of informational influence, which were used by the Russian, American and German print media during the doping scandal and suspension of Russian athletes from the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and, on that basis, to prove the presence of negative informational campaign aimed on discredit of Russian sports power. The aim of the study is achieved mainly via content-analysis of the selected media articles and through the analysis of the data, provided by research centers. This research advances the understanding of the media impact on country image.
