The Impact of the Syrian Factor on Russian-American Relations During Barack Obama`s Second Term

This paper evaluates the impact of the Syrian factor on Russian-American relations during Barack Obama's second term. This study highlights the dynamics of shifts in Russian and American approaches to the peace settlement in Syria. Furthermore, in the research Russian and American mechanisms, goals and opportunities connected with Syrian crisis are studied. Moreover, this paper focuses of US-Russian cooperation in the context of liquidation of Syrian chemical weapon and peace settlement. The current study provides an outlook for further development of US-Russian relations under Donald Trump. This study uses neo-realistic paradigm to analyze the influence of international challenges provoked by the Syrian civil war on shifts on the Russian-American political track. The research provides a better understanding of interconnectedness between political processes in the Middle East and the relations between global super powers interested in strengthening their positions in the region.
