The regression analysis on panel data with the inclusion of more than 130 countries from 1984 to 2010 has shown, that the uniformity of distribution of resource rent is an important factor that can modify the effect of country's resource wealth on political stability. The author has made a conclusion about different effect of oil and gas rent on internal stability, depending on the level of distribution of income from hydrocarbons. What is more, the more concentrated rent is, the less the state is exposed to civil conflicts, outbreaks of violence, terrorism and mass political protests.
