Nowadays the issue of providing children with high-quality school meals becomes the most popular. In order to solve this issue ecological public procurement is successfully applied in the international practice. But it is fairly young direction for Russia. Consequently, the problem of this study will be the question: is it possible to introduce environmental criteria in the implementation of public procurement of food in Russian schools? And how to do it? A set of measures was carried out to solve the existing problem. Firstly, we carried out the analysis of the regulations in public procurement and the school feeding system. Further, we studied the level of children alimentary-dependent diseases and purchases of school meals in Perm. The study revealed that the level of environmental criteria use in the procurement of school meals in the city under is extremely low. But the level of alimentary-dependent diseases among school-age children tends to grow. As a result, a set of recommendations aimed at changing the system of school meals was developed. The use of proposed activities should favorably affect the quality of school meals.
