The thesis is aimed to apply «critical chain» project management approach to exhibition museum projects. For this purpose, we have researched cultural and social conditions of museum development with the accent on the museum changes after World War 2. The hypothesis is made that due to cultural settings in that period we can observe the priority shift from collecting and storing collections in museums to actually display, interpretation, and communication based upon those collections. In rapidly changing world museums lack more adaptive approaches to exhibition management. We have analyzed the most notable ones to identify their strengths and weaknesses. To strengthen the identified missings we propose management theory approach known as «critical chain», which is well balanced for the exhibition development purposes. The core approach is introduced and applied for the museum specifics, as long as noted the approach limitations. The work tends to enrich contemporary practices of exhibition management so to make them more adaptable and relevant.
