The Relationship between Employee Intention to Stay in the Organization, Engagement and Components of Work Life

The master thesis is devoted to the analysis of the relationship between components of work life of staff, their engagement and desire to stay in the organization. The theme of thesis is relevant, because there is 60-70% staff in Russia work in non-prestigious and low-paid spheres, but the vast majority of academic articles describe prestigious spheres. The aim of thesis is the identification of components of work life, and also the identification of engagement components, which are more interconnected with the desire of employees to remain in the organization. Tasks of the thesis are: to carry out a qualitative research in order to understand the research problem; to develop the research tools; to highlight the specifics of the relationship between the variables, using quantitative data; to identify which aspect of engagement affects to the employee's desire to stay in the company; to develop practical recommendations for HR-department and management. The research object – workers, who have low salary and work in low-paid fields of activity, the research subject – the relationship between components of work life, and desire to stay in the company. Main methods of the research are: a method of the theoretical analysis of information, qualitative method (the semi-structured interview) and the survey. The emotional aspect of engagement, a sense of joy and satisfaction from work affect to desire of the employees to stay in the company for a small amount of time. For a longer period to stay in the company affect such factors as the professional component of work life, relations with the leader and the cognitive aspect of engagement. The practical value of the thesis is the recommendations, which can be used by trade organizations and the enterprises of light industry. The recommendations can help to increase the level of the staff engagement and their desire to stay in the company.
