Student: Rzaev Georgiy

Supervisor: Dmitry M. Timokhin

Faculty: Faculty of Humanities

Educational Programme: History (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2017

The subject of this work is the USSR and russian historiography of the Iranian Revolution of 1979. During the thesis the author analyzed a large number of sources. The author singles out two periods in the historiography devoted to the Iranian Islamic Revolution. During the Soviet period, Iranian science was forced to develop within the framework of ideological, Marxist-Leninist ideas about history. Most authors of this period focus on the issue of assessing the events in Iran from the point of view of the theory of revolution and class theory. USSR historiography analyzes in detail these attempts and the discussions that have arisen during their implementation between the authors. The author of the diploma tries to go beyond the limits of existing historiography and draws attention to the fact that at the end of the Soviet period interest in the religious and cultural studies of the Islamic revolution begins to form. At the present stage, there is a growing interest in these parties to the 1979 Islamic revolution. Also, the author draws attention to the fact that Russian oriental studies are largely an analyst meeting the most modern challenges. At the same time, the author believes that in the historiography of the Islamic revolution, there is a dynamic associated with the formation of topics for special scientific disciplines that stand out from topical analysts.
