The project is based on paper constructions with movable elements, recreating architectural structures. The study consists of 6 chapters dedicating to the development of such movable elements. Book’s movable elements were appeared in the 13th century. Their original appointment wasn’t entertaining. Elements were used to explain texts within scientific works and religious books. Only a century later, these elements were moved into child’s literature. These days, movable elements are in entertaining books. Books for children use the moving three-dimensional images. Pop-up elements are used by marketers; designers are borrowing the mechanics of pop-up to create their own works. These elements are penetrated into some technics. Combining paper constructions and nano-materials can open new opportunities for pop-up. Movable elements may move to other spheres in the future. The bases for creating the structure of visual research were movable elements themselves. Its chapters describe mechanisms in the chronological order of their development. There are photos and facts inside. Each chapter completes with conclusion about the mechanism`s changes, the fields of its application and the assumption of future development. Example of the mechanism with explanation of its features is placed on the bastard title as additional entertaining level. The general structure of visual research helps to clarify understanding of the term pop-up. In the course of the research the goals were achieved: the technical component was considered, the functions of the elements were identified, the classification was created and the conclusions were made regarding the further possible application. Pop-up continues to develop, preserving its relevance. In the future pop-up will still be in demand
