Development of the Project Management System for a Small Manufacturing Enterprise on the Example of «Zvezda-Pac» LLC

Today problems in the development of small enterprises are strategically important issues for the Russian economy. In modern conditions of crisis trends and fierce competition, small businesses must adapt their strategy not only to the process of survival on the market, but also to develop the long-term competitive advantages. The enterprise uses the project management as the significant way, which make possible to secure a small enterprise and maximize profits. The topic of this work is devoted to analyze the procedure for assessing the current level of organizational project maturity by a small manufacturing enterprise in Russia and demonstrate ways of developing or modifying an existing project management system. The implementation of EMS in small-scale manufacturing business should be start with the definition of the needs for project management in the enterprise and then continue to analyze the organizational structure and culture, the specifics of the active and the level of applied project practices in manufacturing. The evaluation should be carried out according to the adapted standard in order to obtain maximum efficiency. The object of research was the small manufacturing enterprise of packaging products «Zvezda-Pak», which has certain elements of project management, but having some difficulties in the developing a unified project management system. The economic efficiency of the implementation of project management, as well as the factors influencing on the success of the project, were carefully considered and correlated with the possible costs and benefits. The analysis described the main difficulties and barriers encountered in the implementation of the project methodology, which, in most cases, consisted in fear of making changes, loss of the current position of the company in the market, as well as in resistances from both the administrative and Production staff.
