This paper examines the collaboration between the European Commission and Germany in the implementation of the Energy Union based on a comparative analysis of targets, objectives and long-term strategies. The development of the Energy Union by the European Commission is considered as a new stage of integration, which will have significant impact on energy policies of the member states of the European Union. The author proves that despite the fact that the European Commission and Germany pursue their own interests (increasing the economic position of the European Union and ensuring the effective development of the economy, respectively); there are no fundamental differences between actors due to complementary long-term goals and objectives. In conclusion, author states that Germany may assist the European Commission in the implementation of the Energy Union as it might attract new investment in the country and fulfill its interests.
