The present study examines the political aspect of the Spain-EU relationship in the context of the migration crisis, the collapse of the bipartisan Spanish system and the UK's withdrawal from the EU. The author investigates the cause-effect relations in the interaction between the Union and the Kingdom of Spain, and also compares their positions on key political issues of current time. Within the framework of the work, both domestic political factors affecting the development of Spain-EU relations and the role of other states, especially Britain, are analysed. The significant part of the work is about the development of a territorial dispute over Gibraltar amid the Brexit negotiations.
