The Phenomenon of Self-handicapping in Strategic Cooperation

This paper is devoted to the phenomenon of self-handicapping. This type of human cognitive behavior has attracted the attention of psychologists in the middle of the 20th century, while economists have recently begun to investigate it. Nowadays self-handicapping is considered in terms of motivation, overconfidence and ego utility for only one individual. That is why the purpose of the present study is creating of the model which reflects the manifestation of self-handicapping in strategic cooperation. The most relevant papers were studied and the manifestation of the investigated phenomenon was modeled for situations with one and two agents. The parameters which contribute cognitive behavior of individuals were indicated and the simulations on the basis of the RStudio program of the models were done.
