Italy’s Mediterranean Policy in the Sphere of Security at the Present Stage

Today, the Mediterranean region remains one of the most troubled in the world. Conflicts in the Middle East, the migration crisis and the strengthening of terrorist organizations are the biggest concerns for the entire world community. Italy, the country located in the heart of the Mediterranean, is directly affected by all the negative factors of the current crisis. As for one of the leaders of the region, the stabilization of the situation in the zone of its influence is the most important priority of its foreign policy. This paper attempts to study Italy's Mediterranean policy in the sphere of security and to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of the existing strategy.
