This work is devoted to the research of Brazil’s Priorities in Economic Cooperation Within BRICS. The purpose of the study is to identify the priority areas of Brazil’s cooperation with BRICS partners – Russia, India, China and South Africa. In order to achieve the purpose several tasks were solving during the research: - to analyze the role of international institutions in external economic strategy of Brazil - to identify key features of Brazil’s economic development in the beginning of XXI century - to identify the impact of membership in BRICS on Brazil’s economic development The relevance of the study is motivated by the prospect of the format of informal international associations such as BRICS, as the impact of formal institutions for international cooperation and global governance has substantially declined. According to some researchers, the decrease of this effect is related with a crisis of confidence on the part of developing countries, which, in turn, has arisen due to the existing contradictions between various political blocs and alliances. The studies of Russian and foreign authors, devoted to international economic cooperation and the existing problems of regulation of international economic relations were the theoretical basis for current work. Among them particularly noteworthy are the works of S. Y. Veselovsky, V. N. Zuev, A. A. Kudrin, R. Aliber, C. Kindleberger, J. Nayya and others. The assertion that participation in BRICS has a significant positive impact on the Brazilian economy was chosen as a working hypothesis of the present study. However, the results of the study showed that the hypothesis was wrong. Brazil most likely consider BRICS as an important tool of realizing its foreign policy in order to increase its weight in world politics. BRICS doesn’t have a significant impact on the Brazilian economy, although in the medium-term it is possible that the influence will increase.
