In this paperwork we are going to analyze discussions in the Soviet periodical press devoted to the problems of school education. Using the example of "Teacher's newspaper" we will examine the structure of discussions, as well as discourses. Covered by this study the chronological period (1983 - 1988) coincides with the period when the chief editor of the newspaper was V.F. Matveev. Discourses, within the framework of discussions, were examined with the help of discourse - analysis, made in connection with the basic tendencies of the education in the 80s. All in all, the hypothesis of the existence of discursive features inherent in discussions of various types was disproved. We also found out how the editorial policy of the newspaper influenced the development of the structure of the discussions.
