In the beginning of the XX century Commedia dell’arte turned out to be part of “high”, dramatic art. Commedia dell’arte became one of the models for synthetic art and theatre in particular. There are a lot of different movements that used commedia dell’arte as a genre or only some of its traits to show new ideas and philosophy of the time. Symbolism, revolutionary theatre, avant-garde movement, naturalistic theatre – all of them use commedia dell’arte in a particular way. That is why this theatre changed a lot of the plot patterns, characters and the principles of play directing (comparing with previous experiences).Initially one of the most important traits of commedia dell’arte was improvisation and closeness to current events, to streets and to people. So, the overall goal of my study is to compare the historical events of the beginning of the 20th century and the way how some hints of events, some traits of the time were shown on the stage in completely different way with the aid of various art movements.
