Change of Family Traditions in Modern Tanzanian Cities

This paper focuses on researching the patterns and effects of rural-urban migration of certain ethnic groups in Tanzania. The chosen ethnicities are the following: Chaga, Datoga and Iraqw tribes of Tanzania. Author analyzes the changes that occur in the family traditions and overall style of life in the families of rural-urban migrants. This study underlines the profound effects that the process of migration has on both rural and urban population of Tanzania. Key words: Tanzania, urbanization, migration, family traditions, traditional African family.
