Henry James, during his lifetime, wrote a number of critical works on Ivan Turgenev where was expressing his own views on a purpose of fiction and what he considered the major elements of writer's creative power. This thesis is relevant because the mythologization of Turgenev's image in James's works wasn't analyzed before as well as the controversity of Turgenev's fictional elements in James's critical system.
