Estimating consumer surplus is a difficult task, since it requires the identification of the entire demand curve. To assess the price elasticity of demand I exploited user session information and weather data, which were crucial for built regression discontinuity models. Then I used these estimates of elasticity to estimate the consumer surplus. The results of the calculations showed that the company Yandex.Taxi produced a consumer surplus of about 1.08 billion rubles in two months in 2017 for thirteen cities in the CIS countries. The results of the calculations were extrapolated to users in all cities where the service was present. It is estimated that about 13.56 billion rubles of consumer surplus was generated by Yandex.Taxi per year.
