The Effect of the Presence of Foreign Ownership on Wages: Evidence from Africa

Abstract This paper will look at the effect of the presence of foreign ownership on the wages in African countries. The analysis is done by propensity score method. There are two main stages in the research. Firstly, the propensity score is calculated and data is divided into blocks according to propensity score. Secondly, among blocks wages are compared using nearest neighbor matching method, Kernel matching and stratification matching method. Results indicate the significant difference between wages in firms with foreign ownership and without. Key words: ownership, propensity score matching, wages, Africa.
