In this thesis I investigate deviation of observed consumption choices from theoretically optimal, allowing for time discounting of payoffs. Data for research was collected in laboratory experiment with real monetary payoffs. Results show that accounting for time preferences, on average, decreases the deviation, compared to treatment without accounting for discounts. However time discounting cannot fully explain observed overspending.
