Entrepreneurship level is a very important factor of economic growth. Several aspects influence the decision of an individual to become an entrepreneur. One of these factors is an existence of intergenerational links. No study has yet focused on the role of intergenerational links in Russian entrepreneurship. We use longitudinal data for Russian economy for 15 years (2001-2015) to estimate the intergenerational influence. We found a significant evidence of this influence and explain it by the transition of human capital and specific individual characteristics from parents to child. We estimate the probability of becoming an entrepreneur using probit and OLS models, looking at the number of individual personal characteristics, estimated salary and satisfaction difference between entrepreneurial and non-entrepreneurial sectors and different parent-connected variables. We looked at the influence of 6 different channels of intergenerational links: financial channel, employment help, direct and indirect human capital and 'entrepreneurial gene' transition. Also we've checked whether men and women differ in their behaviour regarding the decision to become an entrepreneur.
