This paper attempts to find out how birth order and family size affect the quality characteristics of children in Russian households. The highest educational degree achieved by a child is considered as the main characteristic within the investigation. The research is based on highly reliable data taken from The Russian Longitudinal Monitoring Survey – HSE. The author shows that despite of all the limitations of the data it is still possible to estimate the effects of birth order and family size on educational outcomes of children in Russia.
