Research on Establishing a PMO in Organizing Committees of the Olympic and Paralympic Games

The research paper is aimed at investigating project management, knowledge management and cultural issues concerning the establishment of a project management office within an Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Extensive literature review, a survey, and several interviews with experts were carried out in order to collect original data and analyze the topic in depth. The results were carefully synthesized, critically discussed and presented as a list of recommendations. The study contributes to the current research on project management, knowledge management, and cultural issues, and eliminates the gap in the knowledge about project management offices within the context of Olympic and Paralympic Games. The results could be helpful for practical purposes in various projects involving knowledge transfer between different cultures.
