Celebrations are the most important thing in any culture. They define it. Celebrations can be for millions of people around the world and for small group of friends at "flat". But the main purpose is that it exists as a reason of fun and joy. 

 I think, the most attractive celebrations, which are founded on century history traditions. They came through several generations and took a "cultural code" of everybody. 

 A celebration has a lot of meanings. This is a symbol - attribute of changing period, ending of one cycle and beginning of another. This is a ritual, not religious, but inner, which is connected with sincerity and openers and unity of people with each other around the World.
 A celebration is a formal reason for meeting, communication, sharing of emotions and joint creativity in social meaning.

 The science of any celebration is a rest, fun and joy. And every people decide how have fun and joy in their own way. Somewhere they rejoice at death and praise it. Somewhere they have fun so that they risk their health. As I wrote early, the all of that is a accurate indicator of that, what is each culture.

 Also, It's necessary to consider a celebration ad a carnival by Bachtin's Concept. ( Bachtin M.M. is a culturologist of XX century). It can be said, that such celebrations create a new world. There is disappeared the line between a performer and audience. “Carnival is not a spectacle seen by the people; they live in it, and everyone participates because it is very idea embraces all the people. While carnival lasts, there is no other life outside it” (Bakhtin, M.M. Rabelais and His World. Trans. Hélène Iswolsky. 1968, Cambridge, MA: MIT Press). A carnival is a life, there couldn't be exist from that. A celebration is a base of carnival. Bachtin thinks, that celebrations are necessary for overcoming some crises and appear in critical points of society development.
