The Issues of Editorial Policies of Russian Mass Media Outlets Regarding the Comments of the Users

This research is devoted to the study of the editorial policy problem of Russian online media regarding user comments. In the course of the interdisciplinary research, were studied the concepts of user content and commentary, was analyzed the legislation regulating this sphere, and was compiled a typology of strategies used by media editors to create comments. The result of the research is that the hypothesis that because of the appearing the responsibility for the editorial offices for the placement of user comments that violate Russian laws, the media specific editorial standards and strategies for user comments have been worked out, which, on the one hand, comply with legislation, and, on the other hand, reflect the peculiarities of the editorial policy of the media was confirmed. The practical significance of the work lies in the fact that it can be useful to editors of online media and ordinary journalists for building works with his audience and its commentaries, because it analyzes the strategy and the editorial policy of the media, as well as legislators and law enforcers, because it will allow them to become acquainted with the shortcomings of the existing system, having seen what problems the media outlets are facing.
