The Genesis of Modern Video Blog in Russia

This thesis is devoted to the study of the genesis of modern video blog in Russia. It identifies the sources of genesis (functions, genres, themes and technological methods) of modern video blog in Russia, as well as the prerequisites of its origin and the whole phenomenon were examined. The subject of the study is genesis, and the goal is the identification of its sources. The hypothesis of the present study suggested that genesis of modern video blog in Russia is based on journalistic genres, technologies, themes and functions. In the sample of this study there are popular videos of well-known video bloggers in Russia. In total there are 11 bloggers working in different genres, themes, performing different functions and using different technologies. As part of this study, it was revealed that the main prerequisites for the emergence of a video blog in Russia are the process of globalization, the strengthening of the blogosphere as an important segment of the media economy in Russia, changing media consumption and people's lifestyles, developing technological opportunities for content creation, the emergence of YouTube, demand for entertainment content. In addition, the architectonics of modern video blog in Russia was revealed. It consists of certain functions, genres, themes and technologies of creation. Also, the main stages of creating video blogs and techniques that bloggers use were refined. The hypothesis was partially proved, video blogs have a number of journalistic functions and use journalistic genres, but they draw topics and techniques from others related areas, and some techniques and technologies bloggers found themselves.
