Gender Roles in the Post-modern Pop-culture: the Comparative Analysis and Typology of Czech and Russian Cases

The aim of the paper is to educe the main differences in evolution of gender roles in Czech and Russian pop-culture through analyzing the lyrics of top 3 popular songs in these two countries every year since 1991. The main methods of research are discourse analysis, comparative analysis and classification . The supposed results should demonstrate the influence of ideas of gender-equality on the Russian and Czech cultures in the period of 1991-2005 and the features of its reflection in mass-media. The paper contains the theoretical part, where the Czech and Russian history and development gender-equality theories are presented, and practical part, where the gender discourse in pop-songs lyrics is analyzed and compared.
