Statistical Analysis of the Quality of Life in Modern Russia

The study examines the quality of life in the Russian regions in the period from 2012 to 2016. To assess the quality of life, the following system of statistical outputs factors had been selected: health, ecology, education, safety and a decent standard of living. The results of the exploratory and cluster analyses indicated the regional polarization in Russia, which is the recurring issue in catching-up countries. The composition of the Quality of Life Index and the regression analysis made it possible to assess precisely the regional development and to identify the most valuable variables for the inter-annual and interregional comparisons of the investigated indicator. The highest explanatory power of the developed index strongly suggests important roles for the life expectancy at birth, employed population with higher education, car accident and crime rate, including juvenile crime rate, in determining the Quality of Life.
