This paper examines labour conflicts during the period from 1997 to 2017 mainly covering the conflicts in the Republic of Korea related to irregular employment, gender and racial discrimination. Within the topic, works of several authors were examined and analyzed. Articles and research papers are varied on the point of the types of the labour conflicts and the field of the labour relations covered. While Park Jong-Hee (1999) pays attention to the problems considering legislation procedures and existing gaps in the labour legislation, Сhun (2013) highlights the historical perspective of labour conflicts and labour movements and Lee (2014) only reveals some problems connected with gender labour issues. However, little studies are oriented on the complex approach in analyzing labor conflicts. This work is aimed to find out the state of the labour conflicts in South Korea and the measures that the government took in order to solve the problems. We will perform secondary data collection and use content analysis in collecting and analyzing the data. The results of the paper may reveal problems in government policies toward labour conflicts and become a theoretical base for the future research.
