Media Framing as a Tool for Constructing Public Opinion (as Exemplified by the UK Media Coverage of Russian Presidential Election)
Advertising and Public Relations
Presidential elections have always been a very widely discussed topic not only in the electoral country but also in the international community. Due to the latest political issues which are accompanied by strong sanctions, territory’s denial, international sport participating prohibitions, etc. this politically sensitive event that is held in Russia this year becomes increasingly important and gets a lot of attention from the Western world. Moreover, one of the leading roles is played by mass media in this case. They become the voice of every kind of information that people can get about what is happening in the other state. That is why we upraise the question of the mass media influence on the international legitimacy and the perception of democracy in general. The author will conduct an empirical research consisting of the media framing-analysis and the online-questionnaire that will be held with British citizens, that is supposed to prove how mass-media can change the overall perception of the event.
