Architecture as Communication: a Social Dialogue

The paper is focused on studying architecture and city space as symbols and sign systems. Architecture sign and its reading was studied using the case of Gorka Park, which is located in Bolshoy Spasoglinishevskiy lane. Case study is conducted using qualitative methods such as ethnography, interviews with park visitors, interviews with an action group member who developed the design of Gorka Park and an architect from Strelka KB. Research combines semiotic and social approaches of studying the role of architecture in communication process.
