The paper studies the social relations that arise in the sphere of international protection of marine biological resources (hereinafter - MBR). The subjects of the study are the international legal acts and the practice of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in cases of protection of marine bio-resources.

The purpose of this work is to identify the features of the international legal regime for the protection of MBR.

Proceeding from the stated goal, in work:

- general characteristics of the international legal regime for the protection of MBR are given;

- the international legal mechanism for the protection of MBR has been explored;

- an assessment of the role and prospects of the development of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea on disputes related to the protection of marine bio-resources is given.
