The present master thesis seeks to analyze and compare competitive strategies relevant to global movie and video game industries on different stages of the value chain. As a starting point, the theoretical basis enabled us to specify competitive drivers applied in both industries and provide them with examples that we analyzed in the second part of the research. The comparative case study has been used to identify differences and similarities between the studied cases and to adopt a qualitative approach for testing theoretical frameworks on a phenomenon being explored. The outcomes of this comparison guided us towards the major drivers that determine competitive strategies for the leading movie and video game industry companies on the global market. Simultaneous emphasis on several generic strategy types led us to a conclusion of hybrid strategy implementation by the key players in both industries.
