The purpose of the research is to identify the directions, mechanisms and institutions of the Russian-Vietnamese comprehensive strategic partnership that contribute to the formation of the Russia-ASEAN strategic partnership. At present, Russia and Vietnam do not fully use the potential of cooperation in the format of a comprehensive strategic partnership. However, the development of Russian-Vietnamese relationship on the territory of "Greater Eurasia" meets the strategic priorities of the Russian Federation, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Association, that can make it the foundation of the future strategic partnership between Russia and ASEAN.
