The Impact of International Economic Sanctions on the Development of Science and Technology in Modern Iran

Is it possible that 38 years of restrictions and prohibitions stimulated Iran's successful and independent development in the field of science and technology? The aim of this study is to prove that international economic sanctions have contributed to the development of science and technology in modern Iran. The evaluation will be carried out through analysis, inductive and deductive methods, as well as problem-chronological and retrospective methods. The study will cover the period of Shah Reza Pehlevi's rule and his program of innovations - the "White revolution", as important prerequisite for the development of scientific activities in the country were laid during this period. Attention was also paid to the Iranian nuclear program, as it became a reason for tougher sanctions regime against Iran and had a direct impact on the development of nuclear S&T. I will also consider state’s science, technology and innovations policy in the context of international economic sanctions.
