The Issue of Transnational Illegal Drug Trade in the Context of Current US-Mexican Relations

The transnational crime has become a subject of growing concern in both developed and developing world. Illegal drug trafficking is one of the most widespread illegal organized activities and generates a great revenue every year. What is more, thanks to a rapid development and changes in communication technologies, drugs flows and methods used by the drug traffickers are constantly transforming and as a result, not a single country remains untouched. Mexico and the United States are highly interconnected neighboring countries with complex historical relations and they face different challenges in the illegal drugs supply chain. Both countries urgently need to address these issues.
