The relationship between technology, media consumption and the business models of online media is examined in this research. The influence of large technology companies, content distributors, on the business models of online media was noted and stressed. The conclusion is that in the modern reality media companies are forced to react quickly and anticipate changes in the market, especially in the sphere of high technologies. As a result, for their successful functioning, online media need to be flexible, change processes, redistribute resources within teams, be able to conduct experiments and respond to trends. This is the key survival mechanism because otherwise, their business will be at critical risk.
