Transformation of the European Union Eastern Partnership Policy
9
2018
The thesis is devoted to the analysis of the EU Eastern Partnership policy, which is an important integration project in modern Europe. Research question of the thesis – what is the trajectory of transformation of the EU Eastern Partnership policy? The study revealed that the Eastern Partnership project did not bring the desired results to the EU. This led to the transformation of the EU policy towards partner countries and the differentiation of the EU approach to bilateral relations. The EU is forced to give up the principle of one-size-fits-all conditionality and strict hierarchy in relations towards authoritarian countries such as Belarus and Azerbaijan. This can result in implementation of a more practical and flexible EU approach to the EaP countries.
