Specifics of the French Development Policy at the Present Stage: Africa

International development cooperation has become an integral part of interstate dialogue. Programs in this area emerged in the late twentieth century, but they are becoming increasingly relevant over time.      The African continent is particularly interesting in this context. Leading ODA providers such as France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and China are focusing their development aid on this region. The French Republic has close cultural and historical ties with Africa and, in particular, with its French-speaking part. The incumbent President of France, E. Macron, is undertaking proactive steps in order to increase funding for development projects in Africa. This can not only positively affect the image of the French Republic in the strategically important region, but also to reduce the burden of forced migration to France as several theoretical models predict.      The aim of our study is to identify the specifics of France's development policy in Africa at the present stage in comparison with previous time periods as well as with the latest initiatives of other leading donors.      The novelty of the study is explained by the complex nature of the research. Particular attention is paid to the migration – development nexus in the context of modern French development projects in Africa, which has not been studied yet in the Russian-language literature.
