Russian Online Education Market: Segmentation and Tendencies of Development

Abstract This work contains an analysis of the market of online education in Russia, it’s segmentation and development trends, based on the theoretical framework related to the topic. The aim is to identify the main segments and trends of the Russian online education market. The object is the online education market in Russia, the subject – segmentation of the Russian online education market and it’s development trends. Hypothesis is: all existing models of segmentation of online education are imperfect, and like tendencies, are strongly dependent on the current state of the online education market. The research of the market is being considered, the existing approaches to it’s segmentation are being studied and the current market situation is being specified in the context of the theory of new media and digitalization, the sociology of education, the theory of industrial markets. The work consists of: introduction; two chapters, the first of which is devoted to theoretical questions related to the topic – the terminology of the question, theories that are necessary for the development of the study; the second focuses on the analysis of existing online education market researches and it’s segmentation issues, as well as the results of expert and students survey that provide an opportunity to study the problem comprehensively, through individual experiences; conclusion; list of used literature and applications. The practical significance of the research are it’s conclusions that can be a basis for new scientific research concerning the field of online education in the aspect of it’s division into segments, as well as studying approaches to the analysis of online education in general. The theoretical significance is the differentiation of the terms used in the work, as well as the identification of segments of the online education market in Russia and key trends in it’s development in their relationship with the development of the digital environment.
