Development Tendencies of Public Television in Europe

We analyze the financing and management system, program strategies and programs’ thematic content of national public television companies in 10 European countries. The research was conducted to identify main features and trends in public television development in the media globalization and the crisis of public broadcasting in some European countries context. We use expert interviews with specialists from different countries to determine the European public broadcasting current state. According to the results, the public broadcasting service classical criteria should be adjusted, so we provide a promising basis for the continuation of research on this topic.
