The Foreign Policy Strategy of the Republic of Korea in the Context of Global Challenges

The 21th century is an age of globalization. The world has become more connected and more dependent on all its subjects. However, our world still sees lots of confrontation between countries, wars and violence accrued all around the globe. Thus, to establish peace and future prosperity in the world South Korea is actively searching for better international policy to deal with the global challenges. The present paper aims to determine the degree of influence of global challenges on the formation of the ROK’s foreign policy strategy. Despite the fact that there are a lot of researchers studied the changes in South Korean foreign policy strategy, few ones analyzed the role of global challenges in this process. The large-scale content analysis of data and a method of comparative historical analysis will be used. Therefore, we expect to shed a powerful light on what global challenges the Republic of Korea is facing, how it affects the transformation of the foreign policy of the country and how the ROK reacts to such problems.
