This diploma thesis is devoted to disclosing crucial characteristics of evaluations of Sino-Soviet clash over the CER (1929). The Chinese Eastern Railway was built in 1897-1903 by Imperial Russia, it connected Chita and Vladivostok. In the 20s it was the property of Soviet Russia but was exploited and managed by both Soviet and Chinese workers. In 1929 China captured the railway, thus violated several bilateral treaties and international rules. The USSR restored the status-quo on the CER within several months by successful military operations. Due to the mutual accusations of the sides, the assessments of the reasons and consequences of the conflict by different historians are ambiguous and contradictory. Historiography contains big variety of reasons and description of events which do not correspond to the historical truth as they were created in appliance with the political situation. This work includes 4 parts: the first one describes the role of the CER in Sino-Soviet relations, the second one includes the assessments of the Chinese researchers, the third one - Soviet and Russian assessments, the forth - Western assessments. Keywords: the CER, historiography, Sino-Soviet clash
