The problem of gender misrepresentation in office is usualy studied by the identification of factors of female participation / non-participation in elections or voting for women's candidates. The very conduction of the election campaign, the presidential campaign in particular, is not seen as having the potential to influence further development of political career. This study compares political careers of the first female candidates for the presidency - E.A. Pamfilova and I.M. Hakamada. It was revealed that both applicants had no social capital at the time of their participation in the presidential campaign to "consolidate" in politics, which made participation in presidential elections rational decision in terms of its acquisition. After participating in the election campaigns similar trajectories of political career-building, dispersed. This phenomenon appeared due to different strategies for self-positioning of EA. Pamfilova and I.M. Khakamada, the first of which expressed readiness to cooperate with the future president of the country, and the second - criticised V.V. Putin in a harsh way.
