Cinematography throughout its history uses archetypes and archetypal plots. It helps to create the story that will be clear for all on every level as well as to influence on the mass audience on different levels. Nevertheless, in contemporary cinematography, mostly international, there is a tendency in changing of the narrative structure due to metamorphosis in the character’s archetype, in his behavior within the framework of assigned plot. This leads to a clear discrepancy in the storyline, to the violation of the established course of the hero's behavior, the breakdown of stereotypes, and mostly important - to the discovery of the unexpected sides of the character that gives him greater sensuality, complexity and drama. Producers and screenwriters use realities, stigmatized areas of modern society in order to display them in cinematography on the example of a bright, non-traditional hero, that hero who is able to attract sophisticated viewer to the difficult problems, reflect the ideas of contemporary world through his statements and show the imperfection of society. By creating the contradictory character, they try to enhance psychological connection between hero and spectator, their shared anxiety, eternal questions about morality, matter of choice, meaning of life, attitude to God. This research aimed to find unusual hero as well as their actions that influence on the development of archetypal plots. The major attention dedicated to the main archetypes presented in the works of K.G. Jung. First chapter is dedicated to the definition of “archetype”, classification of plots and plots in mass cinematography. Second chapter analyze HBO and Netflix companies. Third chapter explores characteristics of HBO and Netflix series. Fourth chapter is dedicated to the analysis of archetypal plots and heroes in presented series. The findings of the work confirm the existence of unusual hero in the archetypal plot and its influence on the plot’s development.
